TASK PROCESS

Week 1:Planning and association
  • Brand name
  • Brand Logo
Brand name

After I and the team members respectively put forward some suggestions and explanations regarding the brand name, we decided to use [HUG LAB] as our brand name. We also designed the draft of the logo. Finally, after the draft was completed, we design a suitable font to be used as the logo font.

Brand Logo

We used circular brushes to design our logo, creating a smooth and adorable appearance.

Figure1.2: Logo Draft (font)

Feedback

  1. Recreate the brand logo and determine the font style to be used for the logo.

  2. Establish your own brand atmosphere and ensure that all subsequent content aligns with this brand atmosphere.

  3. When creating the image of a brand, it is important to ensure that the style is in line with the brand's atmosphere. The application of certain elements should not be overly intense. For example, when designing other products related to cats, excessive use of these elements may make customers think that this product is for pet supplies.

Week 2:Continue to update the progress and make revisions
  • Brand name
  • Brand Logo
  • Brand slogan
Brand name

In the second week we chose to change our brand name : [NEKO REST] / [CAT REST] / [NAP CAT]

Brand Logo

Based on the feedback from the first week, we have decided to redesign our logo and brand name. Truly incorporate cat elements and establish the brand's atmosphere (healing, cute).

Feedback
  1. We need to modify the logo. Firstly, cats are not an animal that can make people relax or feel happy, and not everyone likes cats.
  2. Secondly, cats cannot be associated with perfume brands. There is no perfume brand on the market that uses the image of a cat or cat paws as its logo.
  3. If we need to stick to this idea, we need to approach it from other angles and explain the connection between cats, perfume, and emotional healing.
Week 3

Based on the feedback from the second week, we decided to continue redesigning our logo and start preparing for the design of the packaging.

Feedback Back

  1. Combine the previous cat logo elements with the current text logo.

  2. Switch the pure text logo to a combination of text and image.

  3. Don't overly pursue sophistication; make the entire brand look more elegant.

  4. Revise the packaging. Imagine how to make it so that if someone buys this box, they won't want to throw it away.

Week 4

Based on the feedback from the second week, we decided to redesign the logo and packaging, and also redeveloped a complete brand guideline.

Feedback

  1. Design all items to have a connection with the logo.

  2. Reconsider the brand outline and start from scratch step by step.

  3. After designing the packaging, it is necessary to consider whether, if you were a customer, you would purchase and keep this product.

  4. Determine the brand atmosphere. How does this brand look like?

  5. When designing the packaging and incorporating elements of the four seasons, it is necessary to make it immediately obvious to the viewer which season the box is associated with.

Week 5

This week, we consulted our mentors and decided to revise all of our packaging designs and add some content to make our products more diverse and engaging.

Feedback

  1. Add a wave-like effect to the packaging to simulate the scent of flowers.

  2. Add a similar flower-like effect on the side of the social media and reformat the text.

  3. Representing this brand with cats and each season's fragrance with flowers.

  4. Design some advertisements for the brands, such as bus advertisements, billboards, and elevated advertisements.

  5. Standardize the font on the packaging.

  6. Modify the elements of the summer packaging to make it more in line with the design.

  7. The size of the invoice is too large, and the font is also too big, which is inconvenient.

  8. The large packaging and the small packaging need to be adjusted to fit more closely.

  9. Update the brand outline.

Feedback

  1. It is necessary to pay attention to the transmission of information. Use a bright background with dark text, or a dark background with bright text.

  2. When people are outside, they have less time to see the posters, so the information on the posters can be less but more prominent. When people are indoors, they spend more time looking at the posters, so it is possible to present the information more densely.

Week 7

Last week, we finalized the design of the product, corrected some errors, added two different large packaging options, and submitted the model after the presentation.

REFLECTION

Experience

During the process of conducting this project, we encountered many problems, such as insufficiently efficient communication with the teachers and group members. There were many disagreements during the design and discussion process, but through continuous coordination with the team members, we were able to adjust our mindset and ideas together.

Observation

From each piece of feedback I received, I came to understand certain things. When designing a brand, it is important to focus on what your brand truly wants to achieve, such as the brand's atmosphere, how the brand appears to others, or how to make customers understand what the brand really wants to do.

Findings

During this task, I made many revisions based on the suggestions provided by Ms. Anis. For instance, if we aim to make the design more in line with the brand, how can we ensure that customers can immediately understand the season represented by our product packaging upon their first glance? In other aspects as well, Ms. Anis often advised and encouraged us, urging us to always pay attention to the effectiveness of information dissemination. All of this has greatly benefited me.
