Experience

Through this research process, I not only gained a deeper understanding of how to perceive visual balance but also had a clearer understanding of how ordinary viewers perceive this concept. By combining visual analysis with survey data, I realized how design principles (such as white space, alignment, and contrast) affect viewer reactions.

Observation

The design that leaves sufficient blank space, has clear line arrangement and proper contrast control is always regarded as more comfortable, balanced and professional. In contrast, the design with dense layout and few blank areas often causes visual fatigue and leads to weakened emotional response. Through the data analysis of questionnaire surveys, it can also be observed that respondents often notice and appreciate the blank areas in the minimalist design, indicating that in addition to following other principles such as alignment and proportion, the blank areas will become more effective.

Findings

Through this research, I discovered that visual balance is not determined by a single design element, but is formed by the interaction of multiple design principles. The blank areas play a significant role in enhancing readability, emotional comfort, and perception quality, especially when combined with alignment, contrast, and proportion. In future research, I will also make good use of the methods and skills learned from this study.
